Sarah Elizabeth Charles @ Platinum Sound Studios

TELEFUNKEN-AES-2017-Platinum-Sound-2

On Wednesday, October 18th, 2017, TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik hosted a Studio Listening Party in conjunction with AES at Platinum Sound Studios in NYC. The TELEFUNKEN Dynamic and R-F-T Series product line was utilized during a live in-studio performance by Sarah Elizabeth Charles & SCOPE and the multitrack audio files from this event are now available for download.

“Sarah Elizabeth Charles is one of these studied modern musicians who is going beyond the curriculum. Charles has a crystal clear voice and impeccable phrasing. It’s very accessible, however, her musical sensibilities are quite wild and free.”   – George Colligan (Jazz Truth)

Vocalist Sarah Elizabeth Charles is backed on this recording by Samora Pinderhughes (piano), Burniss Earl Travis (bass), John Davis (drums) and Jordan Peters (guitar).

The session was engineered by Grammy nominated Serge Tsai (Wu-Tang Clan, Shakira, Wyclef Jean) through the studios fabulous SSL 9000K console, with no processing or EQ added to any of the tracks. All files were recorded straight into Pro Tools HD at 24 bit / 48kHz sample rate, and can now be imported into your digital audio work station of choice.

Located in the heart of Times Square, Platinum Sound is stacked with industry-leading equipment, has one of the only SSL 9000K’s north of Nashville, and sports custom Augspurger main monitors that help make it arguably “the loudest room in New York City” claims Sonic Scoop.

The M80 Dynamic is featured on lead vocals, guitar amp, piano, and snare bottom. The M81 Universal Dynamic is utilized on the snare top and floor tom, with the M82 handling kick drum. The large diaphragm CU-29 is positioned on the bass cabinet, the AK-47mkII is in front of the kick, and the stereo AR-70 is under the piano lid. A matched pair of small diaphragm M60 FET microphones for overheads and and the TDA-1 active DI round out the input list.
