TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik provided microphones for a very special project recorded and filmed at Sweetwater Studios with guitar virtuoso Carl Verheyen.

In his 50-plus years of playing the guitar, Verheyen has created a wildly successful, multi-faceted career. He is a critically acclaimed musician, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer and educator with thirteen CDs and two live DVDs released worldwide. Verheyen is commonly regarded as a guitarist capable of playing virtually any style of music with remarkable mastery and conviction.

Verheyen has been one of LA’s elite “first call” session players for the past 30 years, playing on hundreds of records, movie soundtracks and television shows.

A member of the smash hit British rock group Supertramp since 1985, Verheyen has played to millions of enthusiastic fans in sold out arenas worldwide. As the creative force behind the Carl Verheyen Band, he has released an impressive and eclectic discography that showcases his endless talents across a wide array of musical genres.

When Verheyen set out to make a unique blues record at Sweetwater, award-winning film director Nigel Dick was there to capture the sessions. The full documentary of “Essential Blues” takes viewers on a journey through pre-production, gear selection, and the recording process, all the way through to adding the final touches and mixing stage. The documentary is not only educational, but free to watch thanks to the sponsors.
