TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik is excited to partner with the Counting Crows, AVID Technologies, and Sweetwater on these exclusive live multitrack audio files.

In the video below, go inside Sweetwater Studios with Mark Hornsby and Shawn Dealey as they take you through the entire process of mixing one of Counting Crows’ biggest hits, “Mr. Jones.” Recorded live on an Avid VENUE system using TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik microphones, this track offers a wealth of mixing options. Watch and listen as Mark and Shawn take you through the entire mixing process, from selection of plug-ins to finished production. Then download the same multitrack Pro Tools session and follow along in your studio!

Nearly every single channel on the stage was tracked using a TELEFUNKEN microphone, including the M80 Dynamic on vocals and snare, and the M81 Universal Dynamic on toms and guitar cabinets. In addition, the ELA M 260 small diaphragm tube microphones were used on ride, hi-hat and at FOH as a stereo pair.  A matched pair of AR-51’s was utilized as drum overheads.

The multitrack audio files of the bands original song “Mr. Jones” from this live recording are now available for download.

All the files are clearly labeled in the same format with the source listed first (LEAD VOX, ACOUSTIC, PIANO), followed by the microphone used (C12, AR-51, etc). All audio files are presented in .WAV format and were recorded at 24bit / 44.1KHz sample rate.

Shawn Dealey is a live sound/studio engineer who co-produced and engineered Counting Crows’ Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation) album. He is also a producer/engineer at Empire Recording in Canada, where he has worked with a number of local and international clients.

Mark Hornsby, Director of Music Production and Artist Relations at Sweetwater Studios, is an acclaimed music producer, audio engineer, musician, and writer.
