You turn on the radio driving in your car, there's a song on with a real funky drive to it. Some slappin' and poppin' of the strings, with a groovy walk in the breakdown. Your head is swinging from side to side and your butt's shakin', you wanta dance, it's just that simple. Somehow what you just heard was touched by the man whom has put the boot in funk for the past 40 years probably had an influence on that song. I am talking about the undeniable influence of one of the Godfathers of Funk, Bootsy Collins.

One of the "Original" JB's, Bootsy had his hand in some of James Brown's most memorable songs "Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine", "Super Bad", "Soul Power", and "Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing", and later becoming on of the many members of Funkadelic. Working with George Clinton and P-Funk put Bootsy's outlandish style, creative songwriting skills and bass flavor on the map of the music world. Bootsy spent the past 40 years puttin' his boot on the funk in such bands as House Guests, Bootsy's Rubber Band and Bootsy's Sweat Band.

Like his good friend George Clinton, Bootsy took on several alter egos, from "Casper the Funky Ghost" to "Bootzilla", 'the world's only rhinestone rockstar monster of a doll', as part of an evolving character, an alien rock star who grew gradually more bizarre as time went on. He also adopted his trademark space bass around this time. But regardless of whatever theatrical hype was going on one fundamental fact stayed true, with Bootsy laying down the bass, ANY SONG was destined to become a Funkin' Masterpiece.

Whether with a band or as an individual artist Bootsy, a Rock N Roll Hall Of Famer, has an ear for songwriting, grooves and equipment. Bootsy recently attended the 127th NAMM show with good friend Snoop Doggy Dogg and both gentlemen took some time to drop by the TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik booth. Impressed with the performance of TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik microphones he tried out, Bootsy baught a whole line of mics which he'll be using on his new ablum he is recording in his home studio 'The Boot Cave' with friend Snoop Dogg.

Bootsy continues his legacy in music writing and playing with other artists and on his own. Many of today's artists list Bootsy as one of their primary influences, like that of fellow Bassist Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. There is no doubt that Funk as well as R&B music would not be what it is today without Master Musicians like Bootsy. We here at TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik are proud to have him apart of the T-Funk family and can't wait to hear Bootsy gettin' the funk out on his new album.

Funkmaster Bootsy Collins has acquired a full range of new microphones from TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik. Collins now has a matched pair of large diaphragm AK-47 tube mics, a matched pair of ELA M260 small diaphragm mics, and a pair of M80 dynamic mics.

"For those of you that are a little unshure about the M80 mic by TELEFUNKEN," says Collins, "Well, I am about to funk you up with this rap. The name is right and it is James Brown tight, it is the Bomb, an easy win in any fight, yeah the M-80 that be the One. Don't take my word for it, check it out and see how you explode by using it. Go to your nearest funky music shop and demand the Bomb, but be ye forewarned -- it is highly explosive!"
