Some artists in th music industry lead by example. They are lead with a vision and passion that can not be equalled by any other way then to follow that pathway to greatest. Andrés Giménez, with his band D-Mente, is one of those great visionary artists following that path.

Andrés Giménez is an Argentine born musician that grew up listening to all the music of his country and also some from around the world. This filled his childhood with a diverse background in musical tastes that comes out in Andrés' musical writing style.

Andrés started a band back in the early 90's called ANIMAL that enjoyed much success touring throughout South America, the United States and Europe. Amasting a hardcore following as they brought Metal to an audience that had been desiring something more, ANIMAL's success grew from 1992 til their disbanding in 2005.

The Concept of ANIMAL was much like the concept of "Rage Against The Machine" here in the United States, political in nature and informing the masses of social injustice within the history of the country. This allowed ANIMAL to tap into the energy and feed off the masses with that common thread, unity through the music that is truth.

Social Injustice and Political themes are not a unique concept that can be defined by race, geography or gender, but economics as well. This is not a concept that most Latino's are not familiar with, most are. To understand the Latino and Hispanic peoples of the world, one most understand the root of who they are is based in their Language.

Their foods, culture, sociality, religion, traditions, heritage and yes even their music, that boils back to one common thread their Language. It's their musical influences of Korn, Rage Against The Machine, Biohazzard, Sepultura and Pantera that comes through in the songs, but it's Language that rallied the masses behind them.

In 2006 Andrés formed a new band D-Mente (Devil Mind) one with a different feel then ANIMAL. The central idea which started the project was not looking like ANIMAL, but rather have their own sound closer to classic rock. D-Mente is Andrés Giménez (guitar and vocals), Lisa Alvarez former guitarist Tostus Toss (guitar, vocals), Marcelo Baraj (drums) and Cristian Cocchiararo (bass).

With Andrés at the helm D-Mente's first 3 albums have received great reviews and gained a vast following in the past 5 years. In 2009, D-Mente worked with musician, songwriter, author, composer, performer and fellow Argentine León Gieco on his album A Lion D-Mind an album in which he and the band classic remakes in a hard rock format. In January 2010 Gieco, along with D-Mente served as opening act for Metallica Latin American tour.

We are honored that Andrés has chosen to use some Telefunken microphones in his collection. We are looking forward to hearing how it's helps him and D-Mente produce their great musical sound in the studio and live on tour. We here at TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik welcome Andrés and D-Mente to the family (bienvenida a la familia Telefunken).
