The Stereo Set was first introduced in 1958 by Gotham Audio as a package for the Neumann U-47 and U-48 microphones that were distributed in the United States by Gotham Audio. TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik liked the idea, so 53 years later, the concept was reborn.
The Stereo Set of ELA M 260 microphones is delivered with a single dual power supply capable of powering both ELA M 260s at once, and a standard leather bound locking flight case. This insures that your microphones will have the ability to travel together [reducing potential environmental conditions which could add variance to the microphone's sonic character].
The Stereo Set features all 3 capsules [260 cardioid, 261 omni-directional, and 262 hyper-cardioid], microphone shockmounts, a dual power supply and of course, a flight case for the safe transit from gig to gig. The microphones will also feature the same "flint gray" finish made popular by the R-F-T AR-51, so you will be able to know in an instant — which mics are from your Stereo Set, and which are your individual ELA M 260 systems.

The ELA M 260 Field Recording Set was designed for the concert taper and on-location field recording enthusiast. The system was developed based around a rechargeable battery solution capable of powering the high voltages of the ELA M 260's vacuum tubes for over 20 hours.
Each ELA M 260 Stereo Field Recording Set system comes complete with two matched ELA M 260 tube microphones, a set of 3 interchangeable capsules (including the TK60 cardioid, TK61 omni and TK62 hyper-cardioid capsules.), two elastic shockmounts, two 12' Gotham Audio GAC7 tube microphone cables with right angle XLR connectors, two wooden microphone boxes to protect each mic, and the rechargeable battery power supply system.*
In the concert field (or in the taper section) the ELA M 260 Field Recording Set can deliver a multitude of stereo recording techniques. With the modular capsules a variety of coincidental and near-coincidental pairs can be achieved including the 90 degree DIN (German), the 110 degree ORTF (France), and the 120 degree NOS (Dutch), not to mention both A/B and baffled pairs including spaced omnis and the Jecklin Disk.
Whether you're recording bird songs in the Amazon or your favorite music concert, the ELA M 260 Field Recording Set will deliver the highest standard of audio opulence in a convenient and flexible package.
Like the microphones of the Stereo Set, the Field Recording Set is finished in a "Flint Gray" color. All you need to supply if you own stereo bar, microphone stand and recording device with preamp and you will be field recording in no time....
*includes Novuscell E Series rechargeable Li-ion Battery Pack with charger and carrying case.
