New York City, December, 2008 — Troy Germano, owner of the recently launched Germano Studios, has purchased the Telefunken | USA Ela M12 large diaphragm tube microphone. The fifth Telefunken USA microphone system in his extensive collection, the M 12 is built by hand in the USA to the original Austrian blueprints of the classic C12.

"I was looking for a great AKG C12, which is perhaps the most sought after of all the classic microphones," explained Germano. "I've had such good luck with my other re-issues from Telefunken | USA that I thought this one would get the job done. It's done a lot more than that in the short time I have had it available - vocalists especially love this mic."

The Germano legacy goes back to 1981 when Troy joined his father Ed Germano at NYC's Hit Factory. The opening of Hit Factory London in 1989 was followed by the purchase of Miami's historic Criteria Recording Studios in 1999. Troy Germano received the 2003 TEC Award for Studio Design of Hit Factory Studio 6, and in 2008, his Studio Design Group won a second TEC Award for LA's Red Bull North America Studio.

Thorough consideration went into Germano's selection of the new Ela M 12. He explained, "It is the quality of the workmanship and the pride that Telefunken | USA takes in their microphones that impresses me the most. It's a company you can trust when it comes to getting that legendary sound. And their products really stand up."

Germano Studios, launched in June of 2008, houses two stunning control rooms and recording spaces, both featuring SSL Duality 48-input analog consoles, 32-input X-Rack monitor mixers, and Digidesign Pro Tools HD3 Accel.

Germano currently owns four additional microphones from Telefunken | USA: The RFT M16 MkII and AK47, and the company's renowned U47 and ELA M251. Adding the Telefunken ELA M 12 to his collection offers his clientele a wide range of sonic performance to satisfy virtually any recording requirements.

Telefunken | USA's Ela M 12 carries on the tradition of the AKG C12, a hand-built replica of the renowned AKG C12. Introduced in 1953, the C12 was the first of AKG's microphones to feature remote-controllable polar pattern switching. True to the original, the new Ela M 12 provides nine pickup patterns.

Built entirely by hand in Connecticut, the Ela M 12 microphone comes complete with a New Old Stock GE JAN 6072a tube, a custom-built Haufe transformer, and a new CK12 dual-membrane capsule. The mic system also includes a vintage style power supply with a 9-polar pattern remote switch, flight case, wooden microphone box, swivel base connector with Gotham Audio GAC7 mic cable, owners manual, and a fully transferable lifetime warranty.
